‘Nawww gimme a refund after that’: California woman buys Meta Glasses at Best Buy. Then a worker takes her photo, says something inappropriate

A Best Buy shopping trip turned sour for one woman after she said employees insulted her while she was trying to buy a pair of Meta AI glasses.

TikTok user Estrella (@estrellaamyy) shared the story in a video that went viral, getting over 1.3 million views.

Best Buy customer gets roasted by employees

“Guys, why the [expletive]?” she began. “When I went to Best Buy to buy my Meta glasses, one of the Meta people [was] like, ‘Hey, can we take a picture with you holding your glasses or whatever?’”

Estrella agreed, thinking it was just for records. “I’m over here being happy, holly and jolly, [expletive],” she joked, explaining she held up the box while smiling as they snapped the photo. After the photo, she said she jokingly quipped back, “That’s gonna be $50.”

But the employee didn’t laugh it off. Instead, she recalled him saying, “You’re beautiful, but you’re not that beautiful.”

“I actually had no [expletive] words for that,” Estrella said. “That’s crazy. Like that’s actually crazy. You did not have to say that. Bro, it was a joke.”

What can you do in a similar situation?

Situations like this—where an employee makes a rude or unprofessional comment—can leave customers feeling stuck.

While it might feel awkward or even unsafe to push back in the moment, you can consider speaking to a manager before leaving the store so the issue is documented right away.

Another option is to contact the company’s customer service directly after the fact, especially if the employee was representing a brand partner like Meta inside Best Buy.

Shoppers can also request that a store review security footage if needed, though in most cases, managers will resolve issues through feedback and retraining.

Commenters share their thoughts

In the comments, people sided with Estrella and criticized the employee.

“That’s an insecure man,” one person wrote.

Another joked, “The Geek Squad don’t gaf.”

Some said they would’ve snapped back.

“I would’ve just replied with ‘says the one who stopped me for a photo tho,’ but I would’ve been gagged tbh,” a commenter said.

“Tell me why I thought he was gonna give u the 50,” chimed in a fourth commenter.
