NatWest customers were unable to log on to internet banking on Monday following an IT glitch.
Customers trying to log on were met with a page stating that the service was temporarily unavailable.
NatWest seemed unaware of the problem and advised customers via Twitter to try the service again later.
@megthehen13 I see, i am really sorry about this. Can only advise you to try the service a bit later 1/2

The problems are the latest in a string of IT glitches to hit internet banking customers that will raise serious questions over the security of the system.

On Friday, an IT glitch was blamed for payment delays for thousands of HSBC business customers, leaving many employers angry that they were unable to pay staff on time the long weekend. Many of the payments were cleared later that night or early the next day.
However RBS, which runs the NatWest brand, has suffered several issues in the last year. In June, RBS customers were hit with glitches that affected 600,000 payments.
