Naturists take over The Alnwick Garden for a night for special event

They were greeted by a bit of a mixed bag of weather but there was definitely no covering up against the elements when a group of naturists descended on Northumberland on Saturday evening.

Members of British Naturism headed to The Alnwick Garden for a special event which saw them have full access to the visitor attraction including the chairs in the Taihaku Cherry Orchard, The Ornamental Lake, The Poison Garden, Bamboo Maze, Ornamental Garden, The Grand Cascade.

They also tucked into homemade food and fresh coffee in The Pavilion Kitchen.

While of course it still raises a few eyebrows, Naturism is perfectly legal and British Naturism has over 9,000 members with events in waterparks, campsites, hotels and art galleries in the UK.

Ahead of British Naturism's visit The Duchess of Northumberland, who owns Alnwick Garden, said “We are quite sure the naturists will have a marvellous time.

"There is so much to see and do, although they may have to be a little careful strolling through the Poison Garden!

"Our culture needs to move towards a healthy sense of body acceptance and the natural environment of The Garden will be both mindful and liberating.

"Let’s hope the weather is kind!”

Famous last words there!

Their visit to The Alnwick Garden arrived in the middle of a busy year for British Naturism. Their packed schedule has already included a massive Nudefest and will soon see them go on group holidays to Corsica, Spain and Lanzarote and on a big Highland Walking Trip.
