Nate Berkus is trading out all-white bedding for patterns and textures – and we're on board

Nate Berkus.

Nate Berkus is a constant source of inspiration here at H&G. Approaching interiors with tact and taste; the NYC-based designer is a well-known source of tips and tricks for turning the home into an aesthetically pleasing oasis.

His latest endeavor? Covetable, luxury bedding that is simultaneously minimal and chic.

'I have always loved an all-white bed, but creating my Nate Home collection has made me consider color and pattern in a new way,' he captions a video on his Instagram page. An all-white bed is always going to be a classic, but branching out into soft neutrals and subtle patterns can add contrast to your linens. And with Nate's bedding knowledge considered, we have no reason not to experiment with his teaching.

'People are always asking me - 'I want to live with print, but I just keep buying white sheets over and over. How do I add a print to my bed?' My way of doing it is by layering a couple of different things,' Nate says in the video.

His strategy is to place small, patterned accent pillows over top of the neutral base pillows, along with a patterned throw at the foot of the bed.

Incorporating more texture is also a great way to create some points of interest to otherwise plain bedding. Joanna Ross, General Manager of Design at Sheridan, agrees.

'We have seen furniture and ceramics take on a more “human” tone through their soft curves and textured finishes, so it is natural that our bedding layers follow suit,' she says. 'Classic ribs nestle with embroidery, or quilted white pattern and pleating… [it's] a nurturing trend that offers true individuality and longevity.'

Below, find some of our picks from the designer's new home line, Nate Home, to achieve a neutral yet sophisticated bedroom look featuring classic patterns and smooth textures. We're ready to shop, with Nate's approval, naturally.
