Nashik tops state in first dose vax coverage of 12-14 group

NASHIK: The district has secured the first rank in the state in terms of administering the first dose to maximum number of beneficiaries in the age group of 12 to 14 years, said Ganesh Misal, the deputy collector and district coordinator for vaccination.

The first dose has been administered to 84.6% of beneficiaries in the age group of 12-14 years in Nashik district while the second dose has been given to 52.2% of beneficiaries from this age group.

Sangli and Ahmednagar are in the second and the third positions, respectively, in vaccinating beneficiaries from this age group.

Nashik district has 2.21 lakh beneficiaries in the same age group. Of which, 1.87 lakh beneficiaries have been administered with the first shot of the Covid vaccine while 1.03 lakh beneficiaries from this group have been given the second shot of vaccines. The second dose is given after 28 days of the first dose taken.

Misal said they are taking all the efforts to complete the first and the second dose for the beneficiaries of the age group of 12-14 years.

According to him, two talukas — Deola and Dindori — have achieved 100% vaccination coverage of this beneficiary group, followed by Chandwad with 96.11% partial vaccination.

Earlier, Malegaon taluka had lagged in vaccination, but there has been an improvement in the past few weeks. Around 84% of the beneficiaries from this age group have got the first shot in Malegaon.
