Nashik district tinkering lab to launch coding club

NASHIK: The Nashik district tinkering laboratory (NDTL), along with various industry and academia partners, is launching Nashik coding club (NCC) for students interested in exploring computer science for becoming software experts and innovators.

In its maiden programme, a Code Day event will be conducted in Nashik city absolutely free of cost for the enthusiasts who will have to register first for the event. The NDTL that has been funded by district planning committee (DPC) with the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) being its implementing partner. It is the brainchild of Nashik member of parliament Hemant Godse as a result of which the first of such laboratory has come up in Nashik city.

The NDTL that boasts of more than 500 different types of equipment across woodworking, metal working, electronics, electrical, computer science, agriculture, fashion designing, educational tools, etc. has been conceptualized by directors of Oneopen Educare Federation (OOEF) Development Partner of the lab.

Ramashish Bhutada, one of three IITians and directors of the OOEF, said the NCC is a project-led learning environment which means that the club will offer various projects and then help participants learn all technologies needed to build solutions.

The Code Day event being conducted on June 25 will be a run 24-hour hackathon where young learners will lean coding in a marathon that lasts 24 hours.

Bhutada further informed that after the launch of this event several others will be launched in series on various topics that will be guided only by the whose who of the respective industries with the aim that the young minds get to learn from the best of the fields.
