Nabil Fekir opens door to summer transfer after botched Liverpool move

Nabil Fekir has dropped a big hint that he could finally be set to leave Lyon this summer.

The French midfielder looked poised to sign for Liverpool in the off-season, but a move broke down after he is believed to have failed a medical.

But the 25-year-old is now keen to put the episode behind him, and has opened the door to a new challenge elsewhere.

Speaking to Telefoot , Fekir said: "Liverpool? It's part of a player's career, but it makes you stronger and you have to move forward.

"I really don't know what I will do [next summer] but as I said I feel good in Lyon, the president trusts me, that's good. You will see [if I extend my contract]."

Losing Fekir would come as a big blow to Lyon, with him proving to be a key player for his club side this campaign.

He has netted nine times and contributed five assists in Ligue 1 this season, leaving the club currently in third place in the table.

Fekir also helped Lyon reach the Champions League last-16 where they were narrowly beaten by Barcelona .

Liverpool had previously identified Fekir as an ideal replacement for Philippe Coutinho, following the latters move to Barca - but have since cooled their interest.

Meanwhile Liverpool fans thought they had spotted a development for the Reds to renew their interest in Fekir.

The Liverpool Echo reported that several supporters took to Twitter after it emerged that Fekir's agent, Jean-Pierre Bernes, had donated money to a Just Giving page belonging to the Reds sporting director Michael Edwards.

Bernes supported Edwards' fundraising with a £1,000 donation, as he bids to run the London Marathon, causing Liverpool fans to try joining the dots in the hope of fresh legs in a deal for Fekir.
