Mystery football fan donates 'fantastic' four-figure sum to Ayrshire non-league side

An anonymous football fan has dug deep and donated £1,000 to help a non-league Ayrshire side install new turnstiles.

The mystery benefactor's generosity will help West of Scotland League side Kilwinning Rangers improve facilities at their home ground Buffs Park.

Club volunteers currently collect gate money at a table in the open air but the money will be put towards constructing covered turnstiles.

The club revealed the 'very kind' gesture on their Facebook page yesterday, stating: "Our Gate Staff will be delighted to be able to keep warm and dry in the winter."

Kilwinning supporters were quick to praise the unknown fellow-fan too. One hailed it a 'fantastic gesture' while another said: "Brilliant - well done whoever donated the money for this."

Kilwinning are in league action tonight at home to Cambuslang Rangers, kick-off 7.30pm.
