'My takeaway was getting cold' excuse given after being caught speeding

Police in Ceredigion warned drivers to watch their speed on damp roads, after seven motorists were caught travelling over the limit.

Ceredigion Roads Policing officers monitored two village roads on Thursday (August 19) - the A44 at Capel Bangor and the A487 at Blaenplwyf, which both have 40mph speed limits.

Police said they booked cars and HGVs during their checks, with the top speed recorded as 68mph.

They said they heard excuses including one driver running late for a ferry, and another who said their takeaway was getting cold.

Announcing the news on Twitter, police warned drivers to "slow down".
