When it comes to home security, CCTV cameras are some of the best tools for dissuading burglars and porch pirates alike.
That’s why I am excited to see the Ring Battery Doorbell with Ring Indoor Cam on sale at Amazon for its lowest price ever, pre-Amazon Prime Day 2025.
Having grown up in a home not too dissimilar to Fort Knox, this security combo is a certified must for me to feel comfortable in my home, and it’s currently 50% off for a limited time, offering peace of mind at a fraction of the price.
But what makes a doorbell one of the best home security tips? Here, I break down the benefits.
Why the Ring Doorbell and Camera combo is a must-have
Ring home tools are some of the best ways to secure a home without a security system, offering convenient home surveillance all from your phone. The motion sensor recording doorbells capture anyone who ventures too close to your front door, helping to keep porch pirates and burglars at bay. Bought as a bundle, you save $89.99 compared to buying the two items separately.
In our round-up of the best wireless doorbells, the Ring doorbell came out on top, garnering 4.5/5 stars, with quick replies allowing you to leave pre-programmed messages for guests if you are out of the home, wireless installation (making it one of the best security measures for a house for renters like myself), and Alexa compatibility.
As an Alexa-integrated household, I love that I can stream both the doorbell and the camera’s point of view straight to any of my Alexa Show home assistants, also available from Best Buy, as well as to my phone, giving me instant access to my home no matter where I am in the world.

I was first introduced to the Ring systems as one of my Military dad’s top security picks, and while they annoyed me as a kid at first (I would often look bananas talking to my front door when leaving the house for school in the morning when my dad checked in on me as I locked up the house), I now couldn’t live without them.
Mounted to the front door, with an internal camera surveilling my yard, the combination helps to dissuade and prevent porch pirates from venturing too close to my property – this is especially useful as more and more delivery drivers have taken the approach of playing ‘ding-dong ditch’ and leaving parcels on my doorstep before I have the chance to get up from my chair.
Perhaps the best use for the interactive doorbell is catching deliveries when I am not able to get to the door. Now, I can ask the driver to put the parcel in a safe place, rather than miss delivery or have them leave it in full view of passersby in the first place.

My dad and I are not the only fans, either.
Verified Amazon-shopper J. Banks shared, ‘I couldn’t be happier with the Ring Doorbell and Outdoor Camera combo. The setup was incredibly simple, everything synced up with the app in minutes, and the instructions were super easy to follow. The video quality is excellent, both day and night.
'The doorbell gives a clear view of anyone at the door, and the outdoor camera covers a wide area with sharp resolution. I get real-time notifications, and the motion detection is customizable, so I’m not bombarded with alerts from passing cars.
‘What I love most is the peace of mind it brings. Whether I’m home or away, I can see what’s going on and even talk to visitors through the app. The battery life is solid too—I only need to recharge every few weeks.’
It's now at its lowest price ever, making it a great deal to snap up, even before Amazon Prime's first four-day sale event, coming on July 8.

FAQs
Do you need a neighbor's permission for a Ring doorbell?
You will not need permission from your neighbours to install a ring doorbell so long as it does not overlook any areas of their property, such as their yard or windows.
Whether or not a neighbor can point CCTV at your house is a complex legal issue, and is best discussed with your neighbors first to avoid any complicated conversations later down the line.
Use the digital privacy blocks available on the app to block recordings of areas your neighbors can reasonably expect privacy, for instance, a bathroom or bedroom window.
Do Ring doorbells work without a subscription?
The only downside to Amazon Ring Security systems is that they often require a monthly subscription to access all features. However, the doorbell still works without the subscription, albeit without the camera storing video clips of activity. You will still receive notifications for movement and button presses, however, maintaining the primary function of the video doorbell.
