'My neighbour is demanding I dig up garden, he hates how it looks on Google Maps'

An avid gardener has been left outraged after being ordered to tear up his entire garden because his "entitled" neighbour doesn't like it. The man painstakingly planted seven fruit trees, vegetable patches, and flowers around his garden - hoping they'd brighten up his back yard each and every summer.

But after checking out his garden on Google Maps, his neighbour branded it an eyesore that could lower house values in their neighbourhood. Taking to Reddit, the gardener's son said: "My neighbours tried to force my dad to tear up his garden because his dirt/grass ratio was unattractive.

"My dad has always had a green thumb. He purchased his current house specifically because of the nice backyard it had. He has seven fruit trees and plenty of space for his flowers and numerous vegetable gardens.

"Turns out some neighbour saw his back lot on Google maps and decided that the lack of grass in his backyard made the entire development unattractive and was lowering everyone's home values."

The "entitled" neighbour convinced the homeowners associations (HOA) to write a formal letter of complaint to his dad, ordering him to chop down his trees and rip up his vegetable patches and flowers to instead plant grass.

"The HOA had no legal standing so my dad lawyered up and told them to suck it," he added.

While most users slammed the neighbour for being so "evil", others shared their own stories about their nightmare neighbours.

One user said: "Growing up we had a large workshop at the back of the property. It was painted white to match the house.

"The neighbour behind used to send demand letters threatening legal action if we did not paint it a more suitable colour to blend in with the scenery.

"Apparently, our white work shop was prohibiting her from using/enjoying her back yard.

"So we did what a respectful and reasonable neighbour would do. We installed flood lights on it.

Another user added: "I have an insane neighbour that hounds me to cut down my beautiful 45 year old oak that partially hangs over his driveway because 'a limb might fall off and hit his son on the head'."

A third user said: "My parents had to built an eight foot wooden fence because the neighbours called the police any time our lawn wasn't clean - such as one thing was toppled over or a kiddy pool was left in the lawn overnight. It was pretty ridiculous.

"The crazy thing is the police actually sent bylaw officers to the house each time they were called. Love living in an uppity upper-middle class neighbourhood."
