A woman is refusing to go to her cousin's wedding as her fiancé of eight years has not been invited - because the bride doesn't think their relationship is 'serious' enough. The woman took to Reddit to explain that her cousin is getting married in December and when they were handing out invites, she was shocked to find her partner was not invited to the big day.
Seeking advice on Reddit, the woman explained that she was shocked to find her partner would not be coming to the big day in December after receiving an invite only addressed to her.
The woman, who shared her situation anonymously, wrote: "To my surprise, my fiancé and partner of 8 years was not invited as my plus one, plus as a member of our family.
"My mom was upset by this move because many of us found it completely disrespectful for my cousin and her partner to exclude a long term partner, who's also my fiancé from this."
She explained that the snub was especially hurtful as her and her cousin have always been close and grown up together so it felt extremely personal.

Explaining her cousin's relationship, she added: "She's been with him for 4 years but he's not been around the family a lot. Even my cousin's own parents have only met him around 5-6 times throughout the years.
"While my fiancé is at this point an established family member. He's been around for nearly a decade, was around even before we started dating, he's been with me since we were in high-school.
"He's always around and with me in most family occasions and even in every day life stuff, most of my extended family knows this man a lot."
When she asked her cousin why her fiancé wasn't invited - she was shocked by her cousin's blunt reasoning.
"My cousin said that she doesn't consider my relationship to my fiancé serious enough and she and her fiancé don't know him that well and she's got the rule that 'If I wouldn't treat him out to dinner then why should I feed him at my wedding,' she explained.
"That's funny coming from a couple, where the fiancé is barely around and we've only seen him a couple of times all these years."
As a result, the woman decided to uninvite herself from the wedding and told her cousin that if she could not respect her relationship then she would not be going either.
Now the pair are divided - with the bride claiming she's upset a man had come between them.
In response, many have been quick to support the author of the post with one person writing: "Your cousin almost sounds like she is on some sort of superiority, power trip."
While another said: "Sounds like she is upset that the family likes your fiancé better and wanted to take him, and your relationship, down a peg."
