Discovering the truth of infidelity is always a horrendous experience for those hurt and the families surrounding them. There is never a good time to hear the heart-wrenching truth, but for one woman, it came at the worst possible time – days before a major family wedding.
The anonymous Reddit user shared her story on the r/TrueOffMyChest subreddit, detailing the complex situation she has found herself in. The original poster (OP) explained: "Yesterday morning I was contacted by a solicitor. I was confused because I don't have any need for one for anything.
"She told me that her client is seeking a divorce from his wife due to the wife having an affair."
She went on to explain that their investigator found that the affair was between their client and her husband and that the solicitor was asked to inform her.
The solicitor provided proof that the affair was in fact real and to make matter worse, her husband is due to be the best man at her brother’s wedding the following Saturday.
He is already with the family to help with preparations, and devastatingly, the pair share a five-month-old daughter.
"Me and my 5 month-old daughter were supposed to leave on Friday morning to join them," the user continued, adding: "My husband is unaware that I know. I am shocked but the proof is right in front of my eyes."
At the time of writing her post, she hasn’t informed anyone in the family, but decided to share the heart-wrenching truth on Reddit.
She said: "I'm going to ask if my daughter and me can stay with her. I don't think I can face him at the wedding. I don't want to hear excuses.
"My sister's husband is a solicitor and while he does not do divorces I'll ask if he can recommend someone."
She was using the subreddit as a way to vent and get her complicated feelings out there for people to see.
"I have to talk to my sister but I'm mostly just getting my thoughts out on here because I feel entirely scattered," she continued.
Other users showed their support for the users appalling situation, with one writing: "I am so sorry. That is an awful situation."
"OP’s husband is terrible," another replied, adding: "The fact that he can help someone (BIL) with their wedding while cheating on his wife is telling of his moral compass."
Some offered advice as well, with one writing: "You sound like a smart lady. Get a place to stay with your child, get your ducks in a row and leave him. I’m so sorry you’re going through this."
