My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding star Paddy Doherty has given a health update after revealing he recently suffered a heart attack.

The Irish personality’s medical emergency comes a year after he experienced Covid complications.

Taking to social media, the 63-year-old shared a clip from hospital in which he shared with fans what had happened and vowed to embark on a healthier lifestyle including ditching alcohol.

He said: “My heart I think... I had a heart attack last night. My breathing keeps being difficult. It’s like a horse sitting on your chest.”

In a follow up video, he also claimed he had been stuck in a corridor at the hospital in Chester for two days as the unit didn’t have the facilities to move him to a ward.

Doherty explained: "Hello everybody. I look better now shaved brushed teeth. Feeling ten times better. Imagine two days in the hallway.

“It wasn’t just me, there’s a lot of people there, and the sad thing is it’s old gentlemen and old ladies, to see them stuck on a corridor.

“One man was pulling the blankets off, God help him he didn’t know. They said we’ve got to keep you covered up, we haven’t got the facilities.”

He thanked the NHS for looking after him. "Without them, we wouldn’t survive,” he added.

Addressing his drinking, the former Celebrity Big Brother winner admitted he had turned to booze following the death of his mother Queenie from dementia in 2018.

He said: “You know what it is? It’s just all the stress with my brother Martin [McDonagh], and my mother with the dementia.

“Maybe I couldn’t handle it. And then I went on the beer, I went to drink. It’s no good. I was trapped in my own world. I couldn’t deal with me and I couldn’t deal with my mother in a home. I used to drink just to get drunk. Really my nerves are f***ed up.

“I’ve got to stop drinking, stop messing about, and enjoy my life the way I was enjoying my life. A lot of people do things in life they shouldn’t do.”

Speaking about his current condition, he said “I wouldn’t say I’m great, but I’m getting there.”

Adding he would be “be back stronger” and he said he was trying to stay positive.
