Murder investigation after woman, 77, found dead at home in Ealing

Neighbours of a pensioner who died after an attack in her north-west London home have described her as “a lovely lady”.

The victim, 77, was found with a fatal head injury after police were scrambled to the address in Harold Road, Ealing, at 6.40pm on Sunday.

A man, 74, has been arrested in connection with the case and police are waiting to question him as there are “concerns” over his health.

Detectives say he and the woman were known to each other.

Flowers have been left outside the house in tribute to the victim.

One neighbour said: “She was a lovely, really nice lady we are all upset. Sometimes she would be In a wheelchair sometimes not, it’s a tragic end to her life. We are in complete shock.”.

Detective Superintendent Rebecca Reeves of the Met’s West Area Command said: “I know that local people will be shocked by this incident and additional foot patrols are being conducted to reassure the community.

“Our colleagues from the Specialist Crime Command are progressing their investigation. One person has been arrested and we aren’t seeking anyone else in connection with this incident.

“Our thoughts are very much with the victim’s family.”
