Murder charge for driver allegedly behind hit-and-run Easter crash

One pedestrian was killed and a second injured after being struck by a car in Warnbro.

A 36-year-old man has been charged with murder following an alleged hit-and-run attack on two men in Perth's south in the early hours of Easter Sunday.

It is alleged Michael Jon Delaney, from Port Kennedy, hit the two pedestrians with his car on The Avenue in Warnbro about 1:20am before driving off.

Warnbro man Stephen Fraser Read, 42, died at the scene while a 33-year-old Christopher Stephen Bennell was taken to Royal Perth Hospital in a serious condition.

A hospital spokesman said his condition had improved to stable by Monday.

Mr Delaney was arrested almost two hours later, about 40 kilometres from the scene in North Dandalup.

He faced Perth Magistrates Court today, charged with murder and attempting to unlawfully kill.

He was remanded in custody to appear in Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court next month.

Murder charge after body found in house

Meanwhile, an 18-year-old man has been charged with murder following an incident on the state's south coast on Saturday afternoon.

Authorities were called to a home on Coral Sea Road in Jerramungup where they found the body of 24-year-old Tamahere Tumai.

Police allege Mr Tumai was fatally stabbed by his younger brother, Sonny Poutu.

"The family and everyone who was involved obviously [are] pretty shocked by the situation … volunteer ambulance officers from Jerramungup were on scene very quickly and did what they could but unfortunately they weren't able to save the gentleman who died," Great Southern Superintendent Ian Clarke said.

"His 18-year-old brother was arrested at the scene and has assisted police with investigations.

"He has now been charged with murder and at this stage has been remanded in custody pending further bail applications."

Mr Poutu will reappear before the Albany Magistrates Court tomorrow.
