Celebrity dads read Thomas the Tank Engine stories for anniversary

Celebrity dads Peter Andre, Harry Judd and Spencer Matthews have teamed up to present new Thomas the Tank Engine stories.

To mark the 75th anniversary of Thomas & Friends, the famous fathers have each read a Thomas story from the very first book up to current day stories on the official Thomas & Friends YouTube channel.

To launch the new ‘Reading with Friends’ campaign, singer and musician Harry Judd reads the first ever Thomas the Tank Engine story, first published in 1945.

TV personality and performer Peter Andre continues with his take on Thomas and the Dinosaurs, a recent tale.

Made in Chelsea star and entrepreneur Spencer Matthews finishes the series with a special Happy Birthday reading.

Peter Andre said: “When I was approached about Reading with Friends, it made perfect sense especially as I voiced the character of Ace in the Thomas & Friends movie ‘Big World! Big Adventures!’

“My son Theo, who’s three, is obsessed with Thomas, and I love all of the characters too.”

Spencer Matthews added: “I loved being able to come up with the different character voices for Reading with Friends.

“I grew up with Thomas & Friends and my son Theo, who’s now 16 months old, loves the books and the toys.”

In its special 75th anniversary year in 2020, Thomas & Friends will be celebrating storytelling.

Reading with Friends was designed to highlight the exciting tales for children, which also featured important life lessons.

These teachings have remained at the core of Thomas & Friends since the books were created in 1945, when the first ‘Railway Series’ was published.

In 2018 Thomas & Friends was refreshed with the iconic blue engine travelling around the world for the first time, meeting new international friends.

Father of two Harry Judd, best-known for being in McFly, said: “Thomas & Friends is a global phenomenon and I loved being able to read the very first Thomas story.

“It’s incredible how far that cheeky little blue engine and his friends have come over the years. Happy Birthday Thomas & Friends.”
