Mumbai teams dominate National University Esports tournament

HYDERABAD: Mumbai teams dominated the National University Esports tournament as Mumbai Shark teams clinched the first place in the Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) and Valorant categories conducted by the Mobile Global eSports Inc. (MOGO Inc) at the Lovely Professional University recently.

Team Islamic University secured second place in the BGMI category while St Wilfred University sealed third place in the event. Team Bennett University walked home with the silverware and Mumbai Red secured the third place in the Valorant category.

A total of the 24 teams competed in the BGMI while eight teams took part in the Valorant games. These teams made it to the National championship through the divisional tournaments that MOGO organized before the national event. More than 400 teams participated in the divisional tournaments across the country

The winning team received Rs1.50 lakh prize money while the second-placed teams took home Rs.80,000 in both the categories. Third-placed winners in both BGMI & Valorant were given Rs 50,000 each.

The event was held as per the international standards with over 2000 students witnessing the National championship.

“We keenly look forward to the near future where we have planned to build and develop brand new esports arenas and facilities with our partner universities & truly take esports to new heights,” Sunny Bhandarkar CEO of MOGO India said.

“MOGO will give a chance to top 5 players in this championship to train and play professionally under MOGO in the US and will receive a contract of Rs 10 Lakh” added Pranav Prabhu, head of operations, MOGO India.
