Mumbai rainfall forecast: Monsoon set to strengthen in Maharashtra this week, check district-wise outlook

The southwest monsoon is expected to advance into additional parts of Maharashtra, Telangana, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar and some areas of Chhattisgarh around June 23, 2026, as conditions remain favourable for its further progress. The Northern Limit of Monsoon currently passes through 18°N/60°E, 18°N/65°E, 18°N/70°E, Harnai, Solapur, Hyderabad, Bhadrachalam, Koraput, Phulbani, Ranchi, Jamui, Muzaffarpur and 28.3°N/83°E.

Rainfall and weather conditions across the region

Thunderstorms were reported at isolated locations over the Saurashtra-Kutch region, while isolated rainfall occurred over Konkan-Goa, Marathwada and Gujarat.

Heat wave conditions prevailed in isolated pockets of North Madhya Maharashtra. Hot and humid weather was recorded at isolated places in Konkan-Goa, South Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada. Dry weather conditions persisted across the remaining parts of the region.

Maximum temperatures showed no significant change on Saturday. Temperatures remained appreciably above normal over Konkan-Goa, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada, while Gujarat recorded near-normal conditions.

Malegaon recorded the highest maximum temperature in the region at 42 degrees Celsius.

Mumbai forecast for the next 48 hours

Mumbai and its neighbouring areas are expected to experience partly cloudy skies during the next 48 hours, with the possibility of light rain during the evening or night.

Hot and humid conditions may prevail in isolated pockets during the first 24 hours. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to remain around 35 degrees Celsius and 29 degrees Celsius respectively during the forecast period.

Rainfall distribution forecast across Maharashtra and Gujarat

Rainfall activity is expected to remain limited over North Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, the Gujarat region and Saurashtra-Kutch, where rain is forecast only at isolated locations from June 20 to June 26.

North Konkan is likely to witness isolated rainfall from June 20 to June 23, with conditions improving to scattered rainfall on June 24 and June 25. Rainfall is expected to become fairly widespread across the region on June 25 and June 26.

South Konkan-Goa is forecast to receive isolated rainfall on June 20, scattered rainfall on June 21, fairly widespread rainfall on June 22 and widespread rainfall from June 23 to June 26, indicating a significant increase in monsoon activity.

South Madhya Maharashtra is expected to receive isolated rainfall from June 20 to June 22. Rainfall activity is likely to become scattered from June 23 onward and continue through June 26.

Strong winds recorded in Maharashtra

Wind speeds reached 43 kmph at Karjat in Raigad district and 33 kmph at Santacruz in Mumbai.

In Madhya Maharashtra, Dondaicha in Dhule recorded winds of 50 kmph, while Kalwan in Nashik registered 48 kmph.

Marathwada witnessed wind speeds of 39 kmph at Badnapur in Jalna district and 37 kmph at Parli Vaijnath in Beed district.

Rainfall outlook for Maharashtra over the next week

Light to moderate rain and thundershowers are forecast at isolated places in Marathwada on June 20, with isolated light rain also likely over Konkan-Goa and Madhya Maharashtra.

Rainfall activity is expected to increase gradually over South Konkan-Goa from June 21 onward. Many areas of South Konkan-Goa are likely to receive light to moderate rain or thundershowers on June 22, while moderate rainfall is expected at most places from June 23 to June 26.

North Konkan and South Madhya Maharashtra are also expected to receive light to moderate rain at several locations during the forecast period. North Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada are likely to experience mainly isolated rainfall activity.

Weather warnings issued for Maharashtra and Goa

Hot and humid conditions are likely to continue in isolated pockets of South Konkan-Goa on June 20 and North Konkan on June 21.

Heat wave conditions are expected at isolated places in North Konkan and North Madhya Maharashtra on June 20.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds of 40 to 50 kmph are forecast at isolated locations across Marathwada on June 20, South Konkan-Goa and South Madhya Maharashtra on June 21, and parts of Konkan-Goa and South Madhya Maharashtra on June 22 and June 23.

On June 24, isolated parts of South Konkan-Goa may receive heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of 40 to 50 kmph. Similar thunderstorm activity with gusty winds is also expected in North Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada.

North Madhya Maharashtra is likely to witness thunderstorms with lightning, rainfall and gusty winds of 40 to 50 kmph on June 25 and June 26.

Fishermen advised not to venture into affected coastal areas

Squally winds of 40 to 50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph, are expected along and off the South Maharashtra and Goa coast between June 21 and June 23. Similar conditions are forecast along and off the North Maharashtra coast from June 23 to June 24.

Fishermen have been advised not to venture into these areas during the warning period.

Arabian Sea wind warnings

Strong squally winds are expected over several parts of the Arabian Sea during the next five days.

Wind speeds of 45 to 55 kmph, gusting to 65 kmph, are forecast along and off the Somalia coast and adjoining parts of the Arabian Sea on multiple days through June 24. Areas near the Oman, Yemen and Pakistan coasts are also expected to experience similar conditions later in the period.

Squally weather with winds of 40 to 50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph, is likely over coastal regions of Gujarat, Karnataka and Kerala, the Lakshadweep area, the Gulf of Mannar and adjoining parts of the Arabian Sea on different days through the forecast period.

Fishermen have been advised to avoid venturing into the affected marine areas.
