Mumbai: Driver held for stealing Rs 19 lakh gold jewels

MUMBAI: Oshiwara police have arrested a driver of an Andheri-based businessman for stealing his gold ornaments worth Rs19 lakh from his apartment at Prabhu Darshan in Jogeshwari (West), when he was in Tirupati with his family.

The case filed by complainant Ramaswamy Palloor (65), was solved within 24 hours and the entire stolen booty was recovered from one Chetan Shah (43) who had received the ornaments from accused Osama Sayyed (43). "Sayyed was working at Pollar's flat for past few years. He knew about the valuables in the cupboard. He hid them in old newspapers and left the flat," said assistant inspector Sandip Patil.
