MUMBAI: The BMC has managed to collect 5.5 lakh kgs of Nirmalya (floral offerings) deposited in 'Nirmalya' containers across wards during the Ganesh festival. The highest collection of floral waste has been carried out by the S-ward, the K West and R Central wards.
The offerings will be converted into organic manure within a month. The organic manure will then be used in gardens and parks across the city. The BMC had provided 419 Nirmalya Kalash (containers) at various locations across the city. Last year, the BMC collected over 2.5 lakh kgs of floral offerings deposited in 338 containers.
