Mum spooked after dog spots something outside and starts barking during Love Island

A couple were left spooked after their dog spotted something outside and starting barking while they were watching Love Island.

Amy and Kyle Crawford were sat watching the popular ITV show when their pug Honey started barking frantically out the window.

When the couple jumped up to see what was wrong they were left shocked to see "hundreds" of birds had descended on their street in Ainsdale.

They said the street looked like a scene from Alfred Hitchcock's iconic horror film The Birds.

Amy, 36, who is a stay at home mum, told the ECHO: "My dog just randomly started barking and I wondered what she was barking at, [the dogs] obviously heard them before I did.

"I looked out and thought 'what is going on?' There was just a few [birds] at first then more and more came, it got to the point where there were four houses in a row with what looked like hundreds on the roofs."

The birds appeared around 9pm on Monday with Kyle quickly taking a photo before he thought they would fly away - but much to the couple's surprise they were their for over 10 minutes.

Amy and Kyle sat back down to watch TV while their two children, Heidi and Edward, slept upstairs.

Amy joked that the birds were a welcome distraction for her husband during the TV programme.

She said: "I have seen Hitchcock's 'The Birds' and was like 'let's not go outside!'

"I think my husband was just glad to have a distraction from Love Island, he thought I wasn't going to watch it anymore, but I did manage to catch the end. It was just a bit strange and unusual."
