Mum shot dead in front of toddler son with ex-boyfriend accused of murder

The ex-boyfriend of a young mum is accused of shooting her dead in front of her toddler son.

Grazielle Maria Dantas Nunes was at her mother's house in Pedra Lavrada in Paraíba State, Brazil, on Saturday when she was shot in head.

Cleiton Salustio de Souza, the 22-year-old's ex partner, is accused of her killing.

The two are said to have had an argument in the street beforehand. The 47-year-old is now on the run.

The Civil Police said the alleged murder took place in front of the victim’s mother as well as her two-year-old son.

According to the police, Salustio de Souza refused to accept that his relationship with Grazielle was over following their split in December.

He also accused Grazielle of betraying him before allegedly shooting her in the head while her mother tried to defend her.

The suspected killer has since gone on the run as the police try to track him down.

The former couple used to live in Parelhas in Rio Grande do Norte State until moving to the neighbouring state of Paraíba.

According to reports, the suspect had recently been released from jail following an arrest for an unspecified crime when he targeted Grazielle.

There have been no further updates on the suspect’s whereabouts as the investigation continues.

Last month a dad in Brazil killed his own four kids using a pillow and a knife to get "revenge" on their mum.

The bodies of the victims, aged three, six, eight, and 11, were found in the suspect's home in Alvorada, southern Brazil.

David da Silva Lemos, 28, was arrested in a hotel in neighbouring Porto Alegre the following day.

He told police he had plied the children with a 'tea' to pacify them, before suffocating them with a pillow and stabbing them with a knife.

He was taken to the police station, where he then exercised his right to remain silent.

The victims' maternal grandmother believes he killed the youngsters to get "revenge" on their mother, from whom he had recently split.

Idenise Martins da Silva told local media: "He had already attacked my daughter.

"Their relationship had ended for good, but he did it to get to my daughter - I'm sure of it - in the worst way possible. He is a coward."

Police say the couple had been together for 12 years but separated after Lemos assaulted his partner in September.

The 24-year-old victim had reported the incident to police and taken out a restraining order against him.
