The mum of the first baby born at Arrowe Park Hospital in 2023 said the birth was "the best way to start the year".
Bluebell Penelope Roberts-Dodd was born at 2.05am today (January 1), making her the first born at the Wirral hospital this year. She weighed 7 lbs and 11 oz.
Mum Hannah Roberts-Dodd, 32, who is back at home with Bluebell and her family, told the ECHO that the birth was problem-free and praised the staff at Arrowe Park.

About the birth, Hannah said: "It was really early this morning and having her on New Year's Day feels really quite special. It's the best way to start the year, with a real positive."
Explaining why she and husband Matthew Roberts-Dodd, 39, chose the name Bluebell, Hannah said: "I wanted a name that was different but quite feminine". She added: "The day I found out I was pregnant, I took photos of some bluebells, so when we found out she was going to be a girl, it felt right."
Bluebell is Hannah and Matthew's sixth child, four of whom are girls. Her brothers and sisters range from 15-years-old to just one-year-old.
Having brought Bluebell home, Hannah said she was enjoying getting settled back in with family. The mum-of-six had been in Arrowe Park since Friday, when she was induced into labour.
Hannah is now looking forward to Bluebell spending time with her siblings. She added: "We love having a big family".
Bluebell was one of four babies born at Arrowe Park today. A baby boy called Joseph was born at 4.30am, making him the second-born, before another boy, called Aaran, was born at 11am.
