Mum's 'life-changing' storage hack makes fresh fruit last for weeks

Fruit always goes off quickly meaning it can be a waste of money if you don't get round to eating it in good time.

Even if you follow the storage instructions exactly as stated there is a still a chance your fruit will go off before you use it. Luckily, a TikTok user has the answer on how to keep your fruit fresh.

A woman has shared how her life was changed after learning a storage tip - and now her strawberries last for up to two weeks, reported The Mirror.

The money-saving trick is so simple you'll kick yourself for not thinking of it sooner if you're not already a fan. Luckily, you need not waste any more money. Simply store your strawberries in a jar before popping them in the fridge, as @tinytonics recommends.

Shocked she'd not heard of the hack before, the savvy shopper asked: "Who was going to tell me that if you store strawberries in jars, you don't have to sacrifice half of them to the strawberry gods? They last.

"They don't go bad. They stay good. You don't have to throw half of them away. I wasted so many strawberries because nobody told me."

Thanking a fellow social media user for enlightening her, she added: "You've changed my life. They last like two weeks and they're all good."

Well, it turns out she wasn't the only one who had not heard of the tip before, according to the comments left on her video, which racked up over three million views. "Nobody told me," replied one stunned viewer, while another commented: "Currently eating week old strawberries straight from my glass jar, so so fresh still. I learnt also from this app."

Elsewhere, other responders were quick to share their own storage tips. "Careful though. it does help them last longer, but then they start to ferment," warned one advisor.

Another said: "Just rinse them in vinegar and water solution and they last more than 2 weeks." Echoing the advice, a second person added: "Bowl of water, glug of vinegar. Soak for 10 min, rinse the berries, air dry on a dish towel. THEN jar them!"

Meanwhile, someone else recommended: "Just a heads up don't do this to broccoli. I nearly lost an eye when that lid popped off."
