A family had a lucky escape from a freak car crash seconds after collecting a McDonald's.
A woman and her partner were in a van with their four-year-old son when a car landed on the blue Vauxhall Vectra behind them.
One person was in the Vectra when the accident happened at the drive-thru in Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
The mum said: "I didn’t see anything as I was in a van facing forward.
"We only heard the crash from behind us.
"We were (there) a few minutes before the blue car pulled in, with a four-year-old in the car, so we were extremely lucky.
"He was shook up. We all were after we saw behind us what had happened.
"The noise was enough to scare him.
"I don't think it was a family in the car that was hit. As far as I could see it was just one person."
It was not immediately clear if there had been any injuries in the crash at the busy outlet near the Snow Hill Retail Park on Sunday evening.
The carnage unfolded close to Junction 41 of the M1.
The car driver was driving on a roundabout in the direction of the M1 when the crash happened.
The vehicle ploughed through a barrier and onto the car as the owner was waiting to place an order.
Police were quickly on scene and temporarily closed the road and drive-thru.
There were claims on social media that the barrier had already been damaged by a previous accident and not repaired.
This meant the bent crash barrier effectively acted as a ramp to send the other car airborne, it has been claimed.
One comment claimed: "I was in the drive-thru last Thursday.
"That barrier was already hit and flattened down to a 45 degree angle.
"This will have created a ramp for this second car."
A spokesperson for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "Thanks for your enquiry.
"We received an emergency call at 6.55pm yesterday (6 December) to reports of a vehicle collision at Snow Hill Retail Park in Wakefield.
"An ambulance was dispatched to the scene and patients were checked over, but did not need to be conveyed to hospital."
