Mum in 'hysterics' as three-year-old girl gets head stuck in toilet seat

A mum shared the hilarious moment her three-year-old daughter managed to get her head stuck in a toilet seat.

Amy Sanderson had to rush three-year-old Ivy-Anne Bingham to A&E after she tried to use her pink seat and emerged with it around her neck.

The tot is currently potty training and took herself off to the bathroom while her mum was preparing dinner at their home in Plymouth, Devon.

At first glance, Amy said she thought the seat would simply slip off and tried to wiggle her daughter free, reports Plymouth Live.

But when that failed, they had to make a trip to Derriford Hospital where doctors took just over an hour to remove it.

Amy, a health care worker for Blue Bird Care, described Ivy as a funny and strong-willed little girl who is always making her family laugh.

"My initial reaction when I saw her with the toilet seat on her head was 'that's alright I will get it back off.'

"But after assessing it, I realised whatever way I put it, it was not coming off.

"I tried to get it off and just couldn't. It was catching on her ears, on her chin, so then I thought 'I'm going to have to take her hospital'."

Amy saw the funny side of having to carry her toddler from the car park and into A&E with the toilet seat still stuck around her head.

"It was raining and the toilet seat was upside down and the rain was catching so I had to keep tipping her to the side to drain the water out," she continued.

"When I got to the front desk, I thought 'I hope you're not going to ask me why I'm here because I'm holding a child with a toilet seat on her head'.

"Ivy was playing in A&E in the kids' bit and the more I look at the photos, the more I find it funny seeing her playing with a toilet seat on her head. Honestly brilliant."

The mum said it took three people to remove the seat around Ivy's head by holding her and covering her eyes to prevent anything from going in them.

As soon as it was removed, Amy said that the youngster was "absolutely fine."

She added: "They were so good in there and they could see I needed help as it took three people to hold her and cover her eyes to get it off.

"But then she was absolutely fine. They were laughing and without them, I would still have a child with a toilet seat on her head.

"Ivy never has a dull moment, she does so much stuff that gets us all laughing - she's so funny, strong-willed, and such a character."
