Mum has decorated her house for Christmas already, and may have started a trend

A mum of four has embraced the change in season by preparing her home for Christmas three months early.Heidi took to Instagram this week to share her house transformed into Santa’s grotto after she surprisingly requested Christmas decorations for a homeware advertisement in partnership with online home and garden retailer Christow.

Heidi's followers have expressed how excited they are for the festive season this year with many saying they are going to follow suit and get their decorations out early. Christow says customers have been patiently waiting for their 2022 Christmas stock to become available since July. Demand for Christmas products is up 225% in July and August compared to 2021.

Heidi known as @the_flaherty_four on social media had been commissioned by Christow to highlight its products online and the brand had agreed to gift a selection of products of her choice. However, the brand was surprised when she said she’d like Christmas decorations as her gifted products.

Heidi said: “I wanted to decorate my home early as making my children and other people smile when they see the lights makes me think what is there not to love about getting into the Christmas spirit early on. Especially after the pandemic, I think it made us all realise there is truly no time like the present so why not? For now, I’m planning to only turn on the lights occasionally such as when we have friends over to ensure I’m not wasting energy and to keep costs to a minimum.”

The influencer left her followers surprised when she shared a picture of her Christmas decorations up on September 4, three months earlier than most people. One follower commented, “Oh my you’ve said the C word already!!!!”. However, Heidi thinks she may be starting a trend with her followers appreciating her decorations and wanted to follow suit as another commented, “Amazing. I need to start shopping for mine”.

With their home now decorated with Christow’s Light Up Sleigh and Reindeer, 6 Star Christmas Light, Large Star Christmas Light, and Maypole Christmas Tree, the family is proud to be the first house on their street to be spreading festive cheer and the whole family loves the feeling coming home to see their house illuminated with decorations.

Josh Piercy, ECommerce Director at Christow said: “Since the pandemic we’ve seen a trend of people decorating their homes a lot earlier than before. We think that the hardships and isolation of the pandemic led people to want to get in the festive mood earlier to make up for the Christmases lost to the pandemic. Last year, we sold out of some of our products earlier due to the very early demand for products and some customers were disappointed when they went to purchase products in December. This year we’ve stocked up to ensure that we can cater to all customers, whether they want to purchase today or on Christmas Eve.”
