Mum claims Evri courier stole Christmas gifts and sold them at car boot sale

A woman claims an Evri courier has stolen her Christmas presents and sold them on at a car boot sale.

With Christmas just days away, many will be hoping presents ordered online will turn up in time for the big day. But one woman became suspicious when her parcel never turned up.

The mother ordered clothes online that were due to be delivered on November 13, allowing plenty of time to wrap up the gifts, however they never arrived. She was left stunned when a stranger informed her that they had found her missing parcel miles away. As the Daily Star reports, the stranger told her that they were attending a car boot sale in Suffolk when they came across the peculiar find.

At the car boot, they found the 38-year-old's items, still in the bag with her name and Norfolk address on it. The Mail claims that it ended up there when a delivery driver's wife took a van full of packages to sell. However, she was rumbled when the stranger noticed the unique packaging and told the mother the whereabouts of her delivery.

The woman said: "I thought it might be the driver, so my husband phoned him and he said he was at a car boot sale in Suffolk and my parcel, still in its packaging with my name and address on, is being sold."

As well as her, another client has hit back at Evri, formally known as Hermes, and said the company 'ruined his Christmas'. Darren Hilton, 51, alleges that Evri have lost approximately £800 worth of presents that he ordered.

He said: "It's just ruined our Christmas. Every single order which has been shipped by Evri, I don't know where it is. Where are these parcels going? Have they got a depot for lost parcels?"

This comes as many have taken to social media to complain about delays to parcels being delivered on the run up to Christmas amid strikes from Royal Mail staff.

An Evri spokesperson said the company was investigating the car boot sale claims and added: "We are currently delivering more than three million parcels a day. However, like others in the sector, we are experiencing some delays to service due to record Christmas volumes, Royal Mail strikes, staff shortages and severe weather conditions."
