A mum is buying Christmas presents for children in hospital with the money she would have spent on her own daughter.
Emma Tamplin's daughter Meg, 15, died from cancer after spending her last Christmas in hospital .
Emma, from Port Talbot, is now treating children on the hospital ward to Christmas presents to "put a smile on their faces" through the festive period.
She said: "This year I’m going to buy presents for the teens and young adults on the ward with the money I would have spent on Meg for her Christmas presents.
"It’s something that I know Meg would want and I just want to bring a little smile to their faces.
"It’s horrible, being stuck in a ward over Christmas at that age because you want to be with your friends and family celebrating instead of looking out of the window wishing for a different life."
As well as providing her own gifts, Emma has called for donations for children at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.
Gift suggestions include pyjamas, toiletries, and fleece blankets to brighten up hospital beds.
Meg was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) on her 12th birthday after complaining of back pain and feeling unwell. She responded well to chemotherapy and was back playing football just two years after her diagnosis.
Meg died on February 28 this year after a relapse.
Emma said: "Facing cancer as a young adult and teen is one of the worst times, it’s when you finally get your freedom and start to venture out into the world to learn and grow.
"That is stripped from you when you get a diagnosis, it’s horrible.
"I’ve seen so many suffer and I just have to try and help them even if it’s just one gift to show that we are all thinking of them and wishing them to get well.
"It’s just horrible and the side of this illness that people don’t see unless you are in it."
