A mum said she 'couldn’t be more grateful' to the ‘lovely couple’ who came to her daughter's rescue after a bad fall.
Ruby Martin, 11, was rushing to school in St Helens yesterday after her first bus didn't turn up and she was running late for the 8.30am bell at Sutton High School.
After the region was hit heavily by Storm Arwen this weekend, much of St Helens was left with a frosty layer covering the borough's roads and pavements and affecting many commuter's Monday morning travel.

Ruby, who lives on Marshall Cross Road in St Helens, was walking down Eaves Lane when she slipped on ice outside a local primary school, and fell to the ground in agony.
Spotting the fall, Ruby's mum Caroline Ashley said a ‘gentleman’ ran out to the 11-year-old and offered her help and support.
Caroline told the ECHO : “A gentleman came out of his house with his wife to check on her and they got her a chair and blankets.
“They stayed with her for around half an hour and continued to offer her hot drinks and stayed by her side."
The couple contacted Caroline from her daughter's phone and assured her she was being looked after until someone could pick her up.
The 41-year-old added: “I just want to thank them from the bottom of my heart - I’m so grateful for their help.”
Ruby added the couple were ‘absolutely lovely’.
Caroline said fortunately her sister was dropping her children off at Eaves Primary School where Ruby fell and was able to bring Ruby home to her worried mum.
The mum-of-three also thanked the 'lovely' staff of Eaves Primary School who ran out to help Ruby when she was in 'a lot of pain'.
Ruby was taken to the walk-in centre at Whiston Hospital yesterday afternoon for an x-ray which revealed she had broken her ankle in the fall leaving her in 'agony' and having to take some time off school.
Caroline said her daughter has been ‘going through it all’ recently, after only just overcoming two stints of tonsillitis in a four week period and returning to school just a week ago.
Caroline said: “Ruby has only just gone back to school this week after having a few weeks off from tonsillitis.
“She’s had so much time off already and now this has happened.
“It’s just awful watching her in so much pain, it’s horrible.”
Writing about the event on a community Facebook page, Caroline said she ‘can’t thank everyone who helped enough’ and hoped the couple received the message as she was not able to get their names.
Caroline wrote: “Thank you to the lovely couple on Eaves Lane this morning for looking after my daughter after her fall and to the staff at Eaves Lane School.
“I can’t thank you enough.”
The post has received positive reactions from many people across the borough who have sent Ruby their best wishes and hoped for a speedy recovery.
One person who witnessed the fall commented: “I hope she’s ok. She looked in a lot of pain x”
And another said: “If you need anything, give us a shout x”
