Muhammad Ali's daughter pays heartwarming birthday tribute to boxing great

Muhammad Ali's daughter posted a heartwarming tribute to the boxing legend on what would have been his 81st birthday.

Former two-weight champion Laila Ali, who retired from the sport with a 24-0 record in 2007, said her father's "kindness and generosity were unmatched".

She also stated that 'The Greatest' "never sold himself out for money or fame", adding that he "had a free mind and was his own man".

Sharing a picture with her late father, Laila wrote on Instagram: "He was one-of-kind. Growing up, the example he set spoke volumes to my heart. His kindness and generosity were unmatched.

"In this day and time, what makes me proudest when I think about my father is that he never sold himself out for money or fame. He stood for what was right while having everything to loose. Nothing about him was orchestrated or controlled; He had a free mind and was his own man. Those are just a few of the MANY facts that make Muhammad Ali the original one and only G.O.A.T! Happy B Day Champ!"

The former heavyweight champion died in 2016 after being hospitalised with a respiratory illness. He died the following day from septic shock.

Last year, Laila was in attendance as Katie Taylor defeated Amanda Serrano on a historic night for women's boxing at Madison Square Garden and visited the Bray Bomber's dressing room afterwards to congratulate the undisputed lightweight champion on her victory.
