Mueller Report into Donald Trump has been published - here's how to read it

The Mueller Report into Donald Trump's election and Russian meddling has been published - in redacted form.

Congressmen and women have finally been sent the 400-page tome, after Attorney General William Barr agreed to publication.

But what exactly is in it - and how much of it will we be able to read?

Here's everything you need to know about the Mueller report - and how you can read it.

Mueller report finds TEN 'episodes' where Trump may have obstructed justice

What is the Mueller report?

It's the long-awaited report into claims of corruption and foreign meddling in the 2016 Presidential election.

The two-year probe, led by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, has led to indictments against 34 people.

Eight of them - including five Trump associates and officials - have pleaded guilty to or been convicted of felonies.

Former FBI director Mueller began his investigation in 2017, examining whether Trump's campaign conspired with Moscow to influence the election and whether he unlawfully tried to obstruct an investigation.

The 400-page report - which will be redacted by the US Department of Justice before it's published later today - is the result of 2,800 subpoenas, 500 search warrants, more than 230 orders for communication records, and 22 months of investigation.

Nope, Donald Trump was not exonerated

I thought that was released already and there was - ahem - NO COLLUSION?

Mueller delivered his report to the Justice department last month, but all that's been published so far is a four-page letter about it written by Attorney General William Barr.

Barr - who was appointed by Donald Trump - was not involved in the probe.

After just 48 hours with the 400-page report, he declared that it contained no evidence of collusion in the campaign.

He wrote that the report: "did not find that the Trump campaign or anyone associated with it conspired or coordinated with Russia in its efforts to influence the 2016 U.S. presidential election.”

But he included a tantalising quote from the report itself, which said: "While this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him."

The report was delivered to members of Congress between 11am and noon EDT - which is 4-5pm in the UK.

You can read it on the Justice Department website.

How will it be redacted?

The published report will have to be redacted for a variety of legal reasons.

And each different reason will be colour-coded so you know the reason for the blackout.

  • Information presented to a grand jury, which is subject to secrecy rules, will be redacted. This could be a lot of material
  • Information which could compromise sensitive sources - such as FBI informants
  • Information which could hamper ongoing investigations
  • Information which could unfairly infringe on the privacy of third parties

What else is happening today?

Well, Donald Trump could hold a press conference of his own, which would be great fun.

If that happens, it's likely that we won't know about it until the last minute - so stay frosty.
