MSI 2025 recorded the highest viewership of any Mid-Season Invitational to date, captivating League of Legends fans with action-packed matches as the world’s best teams battled for the year’s second international event.
According to Esports Charts, MSI 2025 reached 3.4 million peak viewers in the grand finals, breaking all the previous records for the tournament. The record was previously held by MSI 2024, which achieved a peak viewership of 2.8 million, marking a significant 21.4 percent increase in overall viewership for the event.
The grand finals matchup featured the Korean powerhouses Gen.G and T1, and they delivered a thrilling five-match series following the Fearless Drafts. While Gen.G managed to keep their flawless win streak alive and push out T1 in the decider, the tournament also set a new record for having the most best-of-five matches (nine) in a single League event.
In terms of MSI 2025 viewership, T1, with Faker at their helm, continue to draw in international audiences. All three of the tournament’s most-watched matches featured T1, underscoring the team’s massive fan support and their knack for breaking records.
Earlier in the tournament, Gen.G knocked T1 to the lower bracket finals to face Anybody’s Legends, and T1 upset the last Chinese team to secure their rematch with the men in yellow. In the grand finals, the teams matched equally until Gen.G delivered great teamfighting in the crucial decider to defend their MSI title and become the only team after SKT T1 and Royal Never Give Up to win two consecutive MSI titles.
Despite the unfavorable North American timezone making it difficult for eastern fans to tune in live, the electrifying matchup compelled many to sacrifice sleep and witness two behemoths clash for international glory at the MSI 2025.
Now, the teams will pack their bags and head to Riyadh for the Esports World Cup 2025 before returning to their domestic Summer Splits, where they’ll fight to secure their spot at Worlds.
