MSC Cruises reveals gigantic new theme park onboard ship

MSC Cruises has unveiled its plans for a massive theme park aboard its newest ship.

The Geneva-based cruise line will introduce an open-air theme park, “The Harbour,” aboard its upcoming flagship, MSC World Asia, which is set to debut in December, the company said in a statement.

The Harbour, an activity hub full of experiences and family fun, will include an over-water swing ride known as the “Cliffhanger.”

The attraction will send guests soaring over the ocean, allowing them to take in an uninterrupted view of the sea below. The swing is set to be Europe’s first over-water swing, the company said.

The Harbour will include a ropes course, waterslides, a playground, gathering spaces, and what MSC says will be the longest dry slide at sea.

MSC said that the Harbour area will be part of the Family Aventura District, a lively hub offering spaces for kids to play.

The Family Aventura District also includes The ClubHouse and Doremiland, a 10,000-square-foot kids club with dedicated spaces for each age group.

Another venue on the ship, the MSC Luna Park Arena, will be equipped with interactive game shows. The area will use digital technology to transform the floor into an interactive arena, the company said.

“As a family-owned company, MSC Cruises knows what it takes to keep the whole family happy on holiday, with tailored family entertainment activities and facilities for guests of all ages,” Steve Leatham, the company’s vice president of entertainment, said.

Aboard the upcoming ship, “family entertainment will reach new heights — bigger, bolder and more innovative than ever,” Leatham added.

MSC World Asia is set to debut in December, sailing for seven-night Mediterranean itineraries.

The ship will visit multiple Mediterranean highlights, including Barcelona, Marseille, Messina, Civitavecchia for Rome, Naples and Valletta, the company said.

MSC Cruises is the world’s third-largest cruise line, operating 23 ships that sail across five continents to more than 300 destinations.
