Mrs Hinch fans share 50p trick to banish grease stains from clothes

Grease is often considered a killer of clothes, with stains from the stubborn orange substance tarnishing garments and nigh-on impossible to remove - no matter how much you scrub.

Simply blasting your clothes on a rinse, wash and repeat cycle will not cut the mustard, with many reporting that the pesky and prevalent stain doesn't budge in the slightest.

Thankfully though, fans of domestic goddess Mrs Hinch have been on hand once again to answer all cleaning-related prayers, revealing a quick and easy trick for blasting and banishing grease stains from clothes. And the best thing is, you've probably already got some lying around at home.

The Mirror reports Mrs Hinch, real name Sophie Hinchliffe, has legions of fans who share their own cleaning tips on social media. In one community group dedicated to Mrs Hinch fans, one person asked the group for advice as they posted: "Best way to remove grease stains from clothes?"

In response, the comments were flooded with cleaning buffs who were keen to share their solutions to the greasy problem - but one hack stuck out among the rest. The most commonly suggested hack was to use none other than washing up liquid, with the fans sharing that rubbing dish soap on the stain and letting it soak before putting it in the wash was actually the best solution to the issue.

And the best bit of all is that you can pick this up from most supermarkets for as little as 50p. One person sung its praises and wrote: "Rub washing up liquid into the grease stain. Works every time," while another, stated: "Fairy Liquid, gently massage into grease stain. Leave to soak then wash as normal."

A third penned: "I just saved a lightweight jumper. It had three spots of grease. I had washed it several times and not got rid of any stains. Finally, I wet the jumper in cold water and rubbed it in washing-up liquid. Then, put it into the wash. The stains are gone. Very happy."

Another agreed and noted: "Pour Fairy liquid onto the stain, rub it in slightly then put it in the washing machine on a normal cycle for the garment."

Others meanwhile, suggested a slightly different method as they said talcum powder would do the trick. One said: "Sprinkle talcum powder onto the garment and let it absorb the grease. In the morning, shake off the excess talc and gently rub the area with Fairy Liquid and let the washing machine do the rest of the work."
