Mrs Brown's Boys spin-off show could be cancelled over 'struggle to book stars'

Mrs Brown's Boys spin-off chat show All Round to Mrs Brown's could be axed, according to reports.

Whispers were going round the TV bosses have struggled to book different celebrity guests for the chat show because of the guidelines in the coronavirus pandemic.

Filming for Mrs Brown’s Boys' festive specials went ahead last autumn but there were fewer restrictions.

Yet All Round to Mrs Brown's bosses were understood to be fighting to make the show happen as planned next month.

A source told The Daily Star : "The cast were able to film two festive specials of Mrs Brown’s Boys last autumn because there were fewer restrictions at the time and the cast were able to form a bubble."

The insider added: "But making the chat show with different guests every episode is much more difficult to pull off in the current climate.

"If there is a way of getting the show on air, then they’ll make it happen."

The Mirror have approached BBC representatives for further comment.

It comes after Brendan O'Carroll, who plays Agnes Brown, paid some of his co-stars out of his own pocket following live tour cancellations.

The Mrs Brown UK arena dates were rescheduled to go ahead in 2021 but it remains uncertain whether they will happen yet.

The actor, 65, used his own savings to pay the cast and crew when the Mrs Brown's Boys arena roadshow was cancelled because of Covid-19.

He told the Irish Sun : “You have to realise this would be the cast’s earnings for the year.

"So what I did was advance them half the money they’d make off the tour, they’ll get the rest when we actually get to play the arenas. There’s also the fact that I want to hang onto some really talented people I enjoy working with and I know are brilliant.

"I want all my actors back when we come out of this. I’m a big believer in treating people well so they don’t feel the need to go anywhere else. Facebook and Twitter, those sorts of companies hold onto their teams in the same way."
