MPPSC in wait and watch mode to revise PSC-2019 pre-examination results

INDORE: Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission is waiting for judgement on OBC reservation issue to revise PSC-2019 pre-examination result even after four months after MP high court directions for it.

On April 7 this year, the MP high court directed the commission to continue the recruitment process of PSC-2019 under 2015 exam results declaring 2020 rules as ultra vires. The exam rules 2020 barred meritorious students of reserved category from selection on unreserved category seats.

The commission however since then remained in wait and watch mode deciding not to proceed with the recruitment process till decision on OBC reservation issue leading to endless wait for lakh of applicants.

This is when the MP high court directed the commission twice to continue with the recruitment process by providing 14% OBC reservation in it.

MPPSC OSD and official spokesperson R Panchbhai said, “This is a three-tier examination. In case we give only 14% reservation to OBC candidates and later the court decides otherwise, the commission will have to revise the whole process from pre to interview stage.”

“The commission sought court’s permission for conducting examinations on an inclusive formula wherein maximum students (40% UR and 27% OBC) are declared qualified in each stage of examination. The court however directed for providing only 14% reservation”, Panchbhai said.

“The commission decided to wait till judgement in the OBC reservation case before revising PSC-2019 results”, Panchbhai said.

Interestingly, the commission on the contrary conducted mains examination of PSC-2020, whereby it provided 27% reservation to OBC category and 40% to UR.

The OBC reservation issue has become a major hurdle to 20 recruitment examinations for 8000 posts organised by commission annually.

In PSC-2019 examination, over 3 lakh candidates applied for pre-examination. Of those, 10,717 appeared in mains examination and 1918 were shortlisted for interview before the court asked the commission to revise the result.
