'Move on' - Newcastle United fans react to Steve Bruce's starting XI against Liverpool

Newcastle United fans have been reacting to the team picked by Steve Bruce for tonight’s Premier League clash with Liverpool.

Bruce has made just the one change to the side beaten 2-0 away to Manchester City on Boxing Day.

Summer signing and top goalscorer Callum Wilson returns to the line-up, replacing Miguel Almiron.

Joelinton keeps his place in the 11, meaning Bruce will likely move the Brazilian out wide, and keep with five at the back, as he did against City.

Bar that one switch, it’s as you were for Newcastle, who will be looking to end a winless four-game run with arguably their toughest test of the season to date, welcoming reigning Premier League champions and current leaders Liverpool to the north east.

Liverpool come into the game, themselves, on the back of a disappointing 1-1 home draw with West Bromwich Albion, but hit Crystal Palace for seven in their last away outing.

And there is a sense of trepidation in the air for Newcastle fans after the team announcement.

Here’s what supporters have been saying on Twitter.

@AJR04_: The midfield just lacks flare.....

@adamtones: I’m changing my prediction from 6-0 to 7-0.

@ben_holbrook14: This could be a 4 or a 5 at the back on paper, however we know fine well it’s a 10.

@leewalk01721129: I’ll take that.

@alexmoose__: What’s the point?

@bradley_bs: Get those sleeves rolled up lads.

@nufc_seb: What's Gayle got to do to get a start??

@pes_kleptocracy: Very adventurous.

@Zurrbs: Did he not see Ritchie getting spun a few days ago?

@ShaddersNUFC: Put it in the loss column and move on.

@simonmagoo: No creativity in that team.

NUFC XI: Darlow, Yedlin, Schar, Fernandez, Clark, Ritchie, Hayden, Matty Longstaff, Murphy, Joelinton, Wilson

Subs: Dubravka, Lewis, Krafth, Hendrick, S Longstaff, Shelvey, Almiron, Gayle, Carroll
