Grateful Moussa Dembele has thanked supporters for their well wishes after footage emerged showing the striker fainting.

The former Celtic striker lay motionless as team-mates and staff rushed to his aid as he was placed into the recovery position on the turf.

Spanish media report he fainted briefly due to low blood pressure and he was able to return to his feet following the incident.

Dembele has taken to Twitter to provide an update after the incident.

He has now returned to training in Madrid, posting a smiling picture with the comment: "Back at it! More fear than harm.

"Thanks for your warm messages and your attention."

The 24-year-old joined La Liga title challengers Atletico on a loan deal with an option to buy from Lyon in January.

Dembele was a fan favourite at Parkhead before leaving for Ligue 1 in 2018 bringing the Premiership club a in a whopping £19.8million transfer fee.

The table-topping side face Sevilla in their next league clash and Dembele is back in the running to feature after his recovery.

However, he has yet to be handed his first start by Diego Simeone following the mid-season transfer.
