Moussa Dembele transfer 'acceleration' as Celtic cash windfall hopes boosted after West Ham muscle in

Ambitious West Ham are weighing up a bid for former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele to replace departed Sebastian Haller - according to a report.

David Moyes has money to find a strike replacement after he sanctioned the German's £20m switch to Ajax on Tuesday.

And now RMC Sport 's Loic Tanzi claims the Hammers have identified the Lyon striker as a potential replacement at the London Stadium.

The 24-year-old has been a peripheral figure in Ligue 1 this season with Rudi Garcia's sitting atop the table with Dembele having to settle for cameo displays from the bench.

But he certainly isn't short of suitors due to the fearsome reputation he has forged for himself with teams monitoring his situation closeley.

Champions League big-hitters Atletico Madrid are weighing up a bid for him this month and Record Sport understands RB Leipzig remain long-term admirers of the powerhouse forward.

But West Ham will have to spend more than the fee they received for Haller if they want to land Dembele this month who was valued at £60m last summer.

And a fight for his signature is good news for Celtic who retain an iron clad 10 per cent sell-on fee for a player who left for Lyon back in 2018.
