Moussa Dembele odd man out as Celtic set to be denied transfer windfall by hardline Lyon chief

In-demand Moussa Dembele could be set for another season with Lyon after the club's sporting director Juninho ruled out a transfer fire sale.

The former Celtic star has a clutch of admirers across Europe and added to his burgeoning reputation with a deadly double to dump Manchester City out of the Champions League.

But Memphis Depay looks primed to leave the Ligue 1 side and that could leave Lyon with some difficult decisions over what to do with their other marquee stars.

The Netherlands international only has one year remaining on his current deal and looks likely to reunite with Ronald Koeman at Barcelona.

And with French playmaker Houssem Aouar attracting interest from Arsenal, Dembele could find himself the odd man out when it comes to finalising a deal in this window.

Juninho said: "These are players for whom we have received calls, but no official offer.

"We risk losing Houssem and Moussa. But we are definitely not going to lose all three at the same time."

The club's transfer guru - who is enjoying an expanded role working closely alongside fearsome club chief Jean-Michel Aulas - also believes Dembele could add to his £60m valuation by sticking around for another season.

He added: "I think that after Giroud, it is a possibility for Deschamps. He is a centre forward, someone who is easy to manage.

"For me, it's interesting that he still stays with us, that he continues to progress. If he continues to improve, his value might be even greater than now."

Celtic will be keeping a close eye on developments with the Premiership champions retaining a 10 percent sell-on fee for the 24-year-old who has been watched extensively by the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham in recent years.
