Motorcyclist hurt in crash which has shut Swansea city centre road

A busy road in Swansea city centre is closed after a crash involving a car and a motorbike.

The crash happened by Argos in High Street. Welcome Lane, which leads off the road in the direction of Parc Tawe, is currently closed.

Emergency services are at the scene. Images show a motorbike and rider on the floor, while members of the public try to help them.

It is unknown how long the road will be closed for.

One motorist who was passing the scene said traffic was being diverted.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said: "We were called at 11.50am to reports of a collision between a car and a motorbike on High Street, Swansea.

"The road is currently closed."

A spokeswoman for The Welsh ambulance service said: "We were called today at approximately 11:45am to reports of a road traffic collision on Swansea High Street.

"Before arriving at scene, we were called to say that the ambulance was no longer required as the patient was making their own way to hospital."
