Motorcyclist dies following crash on Belfast Road in Bangor

A 46-year-old man has died following a crash on Belfast Road, Bangor.

The collision involving a motorcycle and two cars happened on Wednesday, August 25.

Police and a crew from Northern Ireland Ambulance Service attended the scene and diversions were put in place while they dealt with the incident.

Damage was caused to all three vehicles and the motorcyclist was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries, but has since passed away.

In a statement released on Monday, August 30, police confirmed the news of the motorcyclist's death.

Sergeant Irwin said: “The collision, involving a motorcycle, was reported to police at 3.35pm.

“The motorcyclist was taken to hospital, but has sadly passed away."

In a statement the day after the crash, Inspector Jamieson said two females who had been travelling in one of the vehicles were left "shaken" by the incident, with the female passenger sustaining minor cuts.

Police are now appealing to the public for help.

A statement from PSNI said: ”The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues, and we would ask anyone who witnessed it, or who may have captured dash cam footage, to contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting reference number 1254 of 25/08/21.”
