Motive Behind California Mass Shooting that Claimed Lives of 3 Kids At Birthday Party Revealed

Four people were killed, and 15 others were injured in the mass shooting that happened at a birthday party in Stockton.

The alleged motive behind a mass shooting at a California kid's birthday party has been revealed.

Four people were killed and 15 others were injured in the mass shooting that happened at a birthday party in Stockton, Fox 40 reported. Three children ages 8, 9, 14 died along with a 21-year-old adult.

Stockton Mayor Christina Fugazi told Fox 40 that the shooting was gang-related. "Let's call it what it is. This is domestic terrorism. This is gang violence and it has to stop in our city," Fugazi told the station.

The gunfire erupted around 6 p.m. Saturday at a banquet hall, KCRA-3 reported. Authorities estimated that there were 100 to 150 people at the event.

The station reported that police believe the shooting began inside the banquet hall before spilling outside.

"Today, local authorities confirmed the victims of the Stockton shooting were just 8, 9, 14, and 21 years old — and that the attack was likely targeted," said California Gov. Gavin Newsom, according to the station. "Our hearts break for their families and the entire Stockton community."

Witnesses who lived near the banquet hall told the station that it sounded like the gunfire went on for more than a minute. They also said it sounded like multiple firearms were being fired.
