Declan Gallagher has heaped praise on Steve Clarke's defensive choices after the latest clean sheet for Scotland against the Czech Republic.
Ryan Fraser's goal and a strong performance at the back mean the Scots now top their UEFA Nations League Group after a 1-0 win.
After criticism of the formation during the last international break, the back three of Scott McTominay, Liam Cooper or Andy Considine and Gallagher have held firm against Israel, Slovakia and now the Czech outfit.
When asked about why Scotland are now keeping clean sheets, the delighted Steelman told Sky Sports News: "The hard work we have been putting in on the training ground.
"We've changed the formation and the gaffer and the coaching staff have worked hard on that.
"We have worked hard on it every day and being together as a tight unit makes a big difference.
"It gets the two outside boys running a bit for me and it's a good system.
"At the end of the day it's working and you get that bit of security having the extra man at the back.
"Everyone that has come in has been brilliant. Andy [Considine] has come in and Coops [Liam Cooper] before that was great and I think everybody that comes into the squad is ready for it."
On topping the Nations League group added: "We wanted to top this group and we're one game away now.
"It's a good statement and now we have to focus on Serbia, but it's a good feeling to be top and in the play-off as well.
"We want to keep that momentum going."
