Motherwell land American striker from Belgian outfit Waasland-Beveren

Motherwell have signed American striker Joe Efford from Belgian side Waasland-Beveren for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old has signed a deal until summer 2023 arrives ahead of tomorrow's Premiership clash away to Hearts and bolsters the Steelmen's frontline following the departure of Tony Watt earlier this month to rivals Dundee United.

Efford, whose former clubs include Real Mallorca and Greek third-tier outfit Ergotelis where he scored 29 goals in 70 appearances, is awaiting a working visa, although the club say a governing body endorsement has been awarded.

Motherwell gaffer Graham Alexander is delighted to add to his frontline. He told the club's website: “He has a great work ethic, real pace and goal scoring abilities from either side of the front three.

“He’s at a great age and after speaking with him, I know he is highly motivated to succeed at Motherwell.”
