A Motherwell councillor has blasted the amount of graffiti and rubbish on the site of a former car showroom in the town.
Agnes Magowan, of the SNP spoke out over the mess created at the former Taggart's showroom on Windmillhill Street.
The Motherwell South East and Ravenscraig councillor recently served as Provost for the local authority.
He told Lanarkshire Live : “Two of North Lanarkshire’s Aspirations are that it should be a place to live and visit.
“This property certainly would not encourage people to visit and live in North Lanarkshire. Some of the graffiti contains language which is eminently unsuitable to be in close proximity to a primary school.
“Myself and my constituents are looking forward to seeing this area in a neat and tidy condition which matches North Lanarkshire’s aspirations!”
Councillor Magowan has already discussed the problems with council officials and is hoping for it to be resolved as soon as possible.
Councillor Magowan added: “I have had the assurance from the Estates Manager for Enterprise and Communities that he will contact the selling agent and ensure that the graffiti is covered over and the site tidied.
“He is going to monitor the situation carefully.”
