Motherwell confirm injury blow to striker Mika Biereth

Motherwell have confirmed Mika Biereth is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

The Fir Park club have revealed that the striker on loan from Arsenal sustained a serious knee injury against St Mirren on Saturday.

The Steelmen were defeated 1-0 in the Viaplay Cup last 16 tie.

Biereth had to be taken off the field after taking a knock as a result of a robust challenge from Buddies defender Charles Dunne.

And scans have revealed that the 20-year-old will be out for three months.

A 'Well statement reads: "Mika Biereth is set to spend up to three months on the sidelines.

"The Arsenal loanee sustained a knee injury in our Viaplay Cup match against St Mirren on Saturday.

"Scans have revealed a serious knee injury which means the striker will miss 12 weeks of the season.

"Our loan agreement with Arsenal has not changed as a result of this injury.

"We wish Mika all the best in his recovery and look forward to seeing him back playing soon."
