Mother Stabbed To Death While Walking Baby In Bradford

A man carrying a gun pushes a stroller with a baby, in Tel Aviv

Authorities have apprehended a 25-year-old man in connection with the tragic stabbing incident that resulted in the death of a mother in Bradford, England. The victim, identified as 27-year-old Kulsuma Akter, was fatally attacked while out for a walk with her baby in a stroller on Saturday.

The suspect, who hails from Oldham, has been named as Habibur Masum, although the police did not officially disclose his identity. Masum was taken into custody early Tuesday morning in the Aylesbury area.

According to West Yorkshire Police, the assault occurred around 3:21 p.m. on April 6, leading to Akter being rushed to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Detective Chief Inspector Stacey Atkinson expressed condolences, describing the incident as a tragic loss of life under horrific circumstances.

Fortunately, the baby accompanying Akter during the attack was unharmed. Authorities suspect that Masum and Akter were acquainted, with previous reports indicating a history of violence between them. Masum was allegedly seen near a bus stop shortly after the murder, and a knife was recovered from the crime scene.

Records show that Masum had a prior altercation with Akter, having been charged with threatening her life in November following an assault in Manchester. In light of this, West Yorkshire Police has initiated an internal review and referred the case to the Independent Office of Police Conduct.

Additionally, a 23-year-old man has also been arrested for allegedly aiding the primary suspect. The police are actively investigating the matter and urge anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in the ongoing inquiry.

The local community has been reassured by heightened police presence in the area, aimed at providing support and maintaining public safety in the wake of this tragic incident.
